Describe the moment
“Sniffed around the roots for 42 seconds” leaves a clearer memory than “was happy.” Keep interpretation separate from what you actually saw.
The corner you walked past. The tree they never forget. Make a little atlas of the moments your dog stops to wonder.

AN ATLAS OF ATTENTION
A little less hurry. A little more wonder.
Click a bloom to read its note. Select a spot on the illustration before recording, or use the location menu.
Your selected diary and date become a nose fingerprint and a constellation. Art reflects observation, never scent chemistry.
Every pause leaves a different ring.
A sky of small discoveries. No place names.
Export uses an abstract layout with no notes, names, addresses or GPS coordinates. Your original diary remains private to this browser.

Use “the old oak” each time you return. Matching nicknames let the diary count visits in your selected period. Leave street addresses out of your notes.
Try the same route on two different days, then filter by date. Look for pauses you missed before. Time spent sniffing alone does not explain a dog’s feelings or health.
Dog Sniff Diary is a small independent observation tool for people who enjoy noticing their dog’s pauses. It measures the time you record, not the dog’s thoughts, health or the air around them.
Keep your attention on your dog and surroundings. Pause somewhere safe before using your phone.
No. This is a private illustrated atlas. Place markers manually; they are not geographic coordinates. No location permission is needed.
Matching place nicknames form one bloom. Size represents their total recorded seconds in your selected period, up to a visual cap. The dark badge counts entries. Blue means new, apricot familiar, lilac revisited. Rings show up to five entries sharing that nickname. This is not an assessment of scent intensity.
Not automatically. Notes use this browser’s local storage. Private browsing, clearing site data or changing devices may remove access. Export a JSON backup and import it on another device.
No. A long sniff has no single interpretation here. Record what you observe without assigning a diagnosis. Ask a qualified veterinarian about health concerns.
The diary tool does not request GPS or send your notes to a diary server. Records and a running timer are stored in this browser. Avoid writing home addresses or personal details in place names. JSON backups contain the names and notes you entered: keep them somewhere private. Delete individual entries from My diary; the undo option remains until you leave or reload this page.
